Yesterday, I spend a day at the Dohren Wild Farmers, a baseball club about 20-40 km from Hamburg in Germany. The baseball facility was made by the club itself without any financial help of the local municipality. As Dohren counts a bit more than 1,200 inhabitants, the club counts about 150 active members.
The weather conditions were very poor as it rained cats and dogs. Also, the conditions for the team were far from ideal. Several injuries, the mother of the catcher passed away that morning, so the team was deeply saddened and it showed in their play. Unfortunately, the team suffered a tough loss in the quarter-final of the German playoffs vs Mainz Athletics. Nevertheless, the atmosphere was great. I felt very welcome and the fans and the club people were very friendly. Here are some impressions of the day.
