No win for De Blok despite strong outing
After three losses, of which the last was a tough one as he was roughed up for seven earned runs on nine hits and three walks, Tom de Blok finally had a strong outing today.
In Saturday’s game vs the Dunedin Blue Jays, Tom excelled in six innings. In those six innings, he gave up just one unearned run on two hits, walked one and struck out eight.
The sole run Tom gave up was scored in the second inning after Tom hit Christopher Bec with a pitch. Bec promptly stole second base and advanced to third on a groundout. What normally would have been a 6-3 inning-ending out, turned out to be a throwing error that led to the sole run Tom would allow.
Too bad Tom did not get the much-needed run support as the Lakeland Flying Tigers were limited to two runs on five hits. When Brandyn Sittinger gave up an RBI triple to Christopher Bec in the eleventh inning, he took the loss.
With this good outing, Tom lowered his ERA from 7.62 to 5.21.
