More Curaçaoan reinforcements for Fortitudo Bologna

Reigning Italian champion Fortitudo Bologna has acquired another player from the Dutch kingdom. Next to Alex Rodriguez and Jarreau Martina, Curaçaoan infielder John Polonius has been added to their ranks.

John PoloniusPlayers from Curaçao are popular in Italy as they have a Dutch passport and thus are regarded members of the European Union according to the FIBS (Italian Baseball and Softball Federation).

John Polonius has a past in professional baseball as he spent seven years in the organization of the San Francisco Giants. John broke into professional baseball in 2012 when he joined the AZL Giants, followed by the San José Giants and the Salem-Keizer Volcanoes.

Through the years, Polonius was moved up and down the whole Giants’ organization with his summit at AAA Sacramento in 2017 when he hit .400 in three games and five at-bats as he collected two hits (one triple).

His MiLB career batting average is .250. Next, to that, John had a .318 OBP, a .351 SLG and a .958 fielding percentage at shortstop and .974 at second base.

The 28-year old speedster was born in Willemstad and joined Genesee Community College (Batavia, NY) before he was drafted in the 30th round of the 2011 draft.
