Rimini not saved after all
Unlike the blog post of last week in which was written that A.S.D. Rimini Pirates appeared to be saved, the curtain has fallen for the three-time Italian champion. Today it was announced the club will be put back to the Italian third division.
Last week, RiminiToday had a positive article about the club in which was written the team would remain in the Serie A1.
According to website Il Bar del Baseball, Rimini has pulled back from the Serie A1, which automatically means the club will be demoted to the third division of Italian baseball.
With this demotion, the club will also not participate in the European Champions Cup.
It is very likely that Parmaclima Parma will take the place of Rimini.
Sad to see another club disappear from the highest Italian baseball platform. At least the club will not cease to exist.
It is sure that former owner/sponsor/chairman of the club, Simone Pillisio can be held accountable for the downfall of Rimini, just like he can be held accountable for the downfall of the previous club he owned/sponsored, Novara, that also went down to the third division after Pillisio left the club for Rimini. Let’s hope that Nettuno Baseball City is wiser and will send Pillisio away. Otherwise, it may very well be that the club will have to face the same fate as Rimini and Novara.
