Dutch hoofdklasse 2018: Relegation Group, round 1, day 1

As the Netherlands were hit by inclement weather, the game between Cityside Apartments and Meerlease Pioniers was canceled. The other game between DSS and Silicon Storks was hardly a game as DSS was much too strong.

Tonight’s game between DSS and Silicon Storks wasn’t much of a game as DSS was vastly dominating. 
Juan Carlos Sulbaran, who returned from an adventure in indy ball, started the game for Silicon Storks. But since his return from a long rehab after a car accident in 2017, Sulbaran is but a shell of his former self as he gave up nine runs (seven earned) on eight hits in just 3.2 innings. It all started in the first inning, when DSS scored thrice thanks to two singles, a throwing error and two sac flies. In the next two innings, Sulbaran kept DSS from scoring and DSS even managed to get back into the game as they scored twice. But the fourth inning turned out to be a disaster. Four consecutive singles, a passed ball and a grand slam home run drove in six runs.
Even though the win was secured already, DSS scored one more run in the seventh. Storks countered in the bottom of that inning by scoring a run as well. 
No surprise, Juan Carlos Sulbaran was tabbed with the loss. as Sander Helmendach earned the win after five innings in which he allowed two runs on five hits and three walks and struck out two.
Best hitter for DSS was Odion Gouverneur, who went 2 for 3 with two runs scored.

Not even was Storks outscored, the team was also outhit by DSS 15-7.
