In a press release, the KNBSB (Royal Dutch Baseball and Softball Federation) announced the roster of team Kingdom of the Netherlands for the upcoming Baseball Week Haarlem. The roster contains three players that will debut with the team.
One of the debuting players is Misja Harcksen of De Glaskoning Twins. The other two are catcher Rodney Daal (L&D Amsterdam Pirates) and Denzel Richardson (DSS).
The majority of the players are coming from Dutch hoofdklasse teams. Four exceptions are Kevin Kelly, who is pitching for A.S.D. Rimini this season, Mike Bolsenbroek, who is living in Germany and pitching for the Regensburg Legionäre, Gilmer Lampe, who is playing for Fortitudo Bologna and Yurendell de Caster, who is playing for the Wildcats from Curaçao.
Another (not surprising) addition is Roelie Henrique. The utility player from HCAW is having a great season and is hitting a solid .389.
Next to Misja Harcksen, Kevin Kelly and Mike Bolsenbroek the roster will hold eight strong pitchers in Rob Cordemans, Kevin Heijstek, Lars Huijer, Diegomar Markwell, Jim Ploeger, Berry van Driel, Loek van Mil and Orlando Yntema.
The roster will carry three catchers: Rodney Daal and Max Clarijs of L&D Amsterdam Pirates and Gianison Boekhoudt of Curaçao Neptunus.
The infielders are Yurendell de Caster, Nick Urbanus, Stijn van der Meer, Dwayne Kemp and Dudley Leonora.
Outfielders Remco Draijer, Rachid Engelhardt, Roelie Henrique, Gilmer Lampe, Denzel Richardson will complement the roster.
Purveyor to team Kingdom of the Netherlands is Curaçao Neptunus with eight players. L&D Amsterdam Pirates sends seven players to the Baseball Week Haarlem, Meerlease Pioniers, De Glaskoning Twins, HCAW, DSS, Cityside Apartments Quick Amersfoort, Regensburg Legionäre, Fortitudo Bologna and A.S.D. Rimini will all send one.
The Baseball Week Haarlem will be played from July 13 through July 22. If the former CEB, now the WBSC Europe had not pushed back the European Championship one year, the tournament would have been a preparation tourney but now it will be played for the sake of it.
