Kenley Jansen helps out MS patient
A 25-year old MS patient from Rijswijk (near The Hague) in the Netherlands was in desperate need of funds to pay for a stem cell treatment. But this treatment is not available in the Netherlands, so he has to go to Russia, which makes it very expensive. Too much for him to pay. But he got help from an unexpected side, a baseball side to be exact.
This MS patient, named Amadeo, is suffering from a progressive form of Multiple Sclerosis. This means the functions of his body slowly deteriorate. He started a crowdfunding but did not get any further than €9,000. But now Amadeo is able to head to Moscow to undergo this stem cell treatment thanks to a generous gift by Los Angeles Dodgers closer Kenley Jansen.

With the treatment in Moscow, they take marrow from the spine, freeze it and radiate it and then it will be placed back. Even though this kind of therapy has helped other MS patients, it is still questionable if it will work with the kind of MS that Amadeo is suffering from.
As the crowdfunding did not bring in the requested amount, Amadeo, who has ties with the Dutch overseas territories (Aruba, Bonaire, Curaçao, Saba, St. Eustatius, and St. Martin), decided to tape a video in which he pleaded famous people from the Dutch overseas territories for help. This video was seen by the famous closer and he decided to donate the needed €60,000.
Sure, with the salary Kenley Jansen gets with the Dodgers, it is easier to make a donation like this than for the average person. But Kenley wasn’t obliged to do so, so this gift shows that Kenley has a good heart.
