Storks strikes deal with main sponsor

Baseball club Storks from The Hague has struck a deal with a main sponsor. In the past years in the overgangsklasse, the club played without a main sponsor. The company that sold its name is Silicon Refractory Anchoring Solutions.

Storks promoted to the Dutch hoofdklasse after finishing fourth in the standings of the promotion/ relegation competition in 2017. Since playing in the Dutch hoofdklasse is a costly business, a main sponsor is a must. Without it, it is hard to stay afloat as a club.

Silicon was linked to the club as it was the main sponsor of the flagship softball team. But after that team disbanded, the company opted to stay linked to the club as the sponsor of the baseball flagship team.

During the ceremony, the CEO of the company was handed a mini version of the new home jersey by pitcher Jurrian Koks. The club will enter the 2018 hoofdklasse under the official name of Silicon Storks.

Storks will play its Thursday night home games on foreign soil as the club doesn’t have a decent lighting system. Home games on Thursday nights will be played at the home field of Curaçao Neptunus, the Neptunus Family Stadium.

Storks will start the season vs De Glaskoning Twins. Also, Twins does not have a proper lighting system that is suitable for hoofdklasse games. The club will play its Thursday home games at the field of Gryphons in Rosmalen, adjacent to the capital of the Province of Brabant, Den Bosch. So the first game of Storks in the hoofdklasse will be played in Rosmalen instead of Oosterhout.
