Dutchies in the minor leagues: Saturday, May 2

AA

At AAA level two of the three Dutchies were on the DL (Roger Bernadina and Jair Jurrjens), but Roger Bernadina played his first game since his stay on the DL yesterday.

Roger Bernadina went 3 for 5 with a double, two RBI, a run scored and a strikeout. So he contributed in a big way to his Albuquerque Isotopes 12-10 win over the Salt Lake Bees.

Matt den Dekker played with the Syracuse Chiefs vs the Columbus Clippers. In four at bats he did not collect a hit. The Chiefs rallied in the ninth for two runs and the walk off 7-6 win.

AA

At AA level, there are several Dutchies on the DL as well. Randolph Oduber (Harrisburg Senators) and Shawn Zarraga (Tulsa Drillers) are on the 7-Day DL. No Dutchie had some playing time yesterday.

A Advanced

The Potomac Nationals lost to the Salem Red Sox 2-4. Spencer Kieboom went 1 for 4 with a double. Spencer allowed Manuel Margot to steal a base and threw out Sam Travis at a base stealing attempt. The Nationals are three games under .500 and are in third place of the the Carolina League Northern divsion, three games behind division leaders Frederick Keys.

The Daytona Tortugas are doing well so far this season. They’re in a two game lead over the Tampa Yankees. Last night they beat the Brevard County Manatees 6-4. Carlton Daal went 1 for 4 but still managed to get on base thanks to a fielding error. He also stole a base.

A Full Season

Jiandido Tromp went 1 for 4 in the Lakewood BlueClaws 4-0 over the Savannah SandGnats. Jiandido struck out twice. Jiandido is in a slump. Ten games ago, his batting average stood at .250. Since then it slid down to .151.

Also in the Sally League (Sout Atlantic League), the Rome Braves fell to the Kannapolis Intimidators 0-4. Batting lead off , Ozhaino Albies collected two of the Braves six hits in three at bats. He also struck out once. Ozainho’s batting average fluctuates between .280 and .260 and is at .271 right now.

The most Dutchies are playing in the Midwest League. But not many had playing time yesterday.

Darren Seferina went 0 for 6 and his Peoria Chiefs lost 7-6 to the Burlington Bees. Dareren struck out three times. Darren was the center piece of a 6-4-3 double play. On April 20, Darren’s batting average was still at .355, but since then his is slumping and hitting only .097 in his last ten games, bringing his current BA at. .226.

The Beloit Snappers ended at the wrong side of the score vs the Kane County Cougars: 7-9. Shawn Duinkerk went 1 for 5 with a strikeout and a run batted in. This season Shawn’s average hovered around .300. With last night’s performance, his average slipped below .290 for the first time since weeks.
