Yankees and Dutchies in Spring Training, Saturday March 7

The Yankees didn’t start well yesterday vs the Astros. After just one inning they trailed 3-0 . SP Scott Baker gave up six hits and three runs in the sole inning out on the mound.
Didi Gregorius didn’t get a hit out of three at bats but was part of a 6-4-3 double play.
The minor leaguers brought the victory. The Yankees got solo home runs from Ramon Flores and Jake Cave, and added six runs in the top of the ninth to rally for a 9-4 win. Rob Refsnyder delivered a tiebreaking two-run single and Greg Bird added a two-run homer for the Yanks.

Xander Bogaerts didn’t get a hit either. In two at bats the Aruban shortstop flew out to right field and grounded out 5-3. Bogaerts was also the sparkplug of a 6-4-3  double play.

Once again Andrelton Simmons didn’t play. But a fellow Curacaoan saw some action. Ozhaino Albies was brought in in the eighth at shortstop. He made a throwing error on which Philip Evans of the Mets reached first base. Albies did not get an at bat.

In the Rockies’ win over the Cubs, Roger Bernadina went 1 for 2 and scored once on a three run homer.
